The New Portrait

After receiving an Andres Serrano book as a xmas present, I was inspired to do portraits in a style similar to his. So I broke out the flash kit and tried something a little different. Controlled lighting in a controlled atmosphere… making a simple illustration of the head. I was really pleased with the results and I hope to do more of these with all types of people.

Prague in August

So it’s been a while… Despite my best efforts to post once a month minimum, it’s been two months since my last post. I will try to do better, if only to encourage myself to shoot more.
These pictures are a few of hundreds of pictures I took on my summer vacation to Europe. Here are some highlights from Prague:

Gowanus Canal

I signed up for a class at ICP, to see if I could learn some new tricks, and for our first assignment I was asked to photograph a neighborhood other than my own. I heard good things about Gowanus, which is a neighborhood in Brooklyn based off a canal, and since I had done some work in the canals in Mexico City, I thought it would be perfect. As the class continues, I will apparently be spending a lot more time here as well…. so stay tuned.

There are about four or five houseboats on the canal:
